Forensic experts walk out of a tent erected near a Shopain graveyard to carry out the exhumation of Asiya Jan and Neelofar Jan - the two sisters-in-law allegedly raped and murdered- on Sep 28, 2009. The controversy over the deaths of the two Shopian women kept Kashmir boiling for the most of 2009. Authorities first said the two women had drowned fuelling public anger as locals suspected the two were raped and murdered by security personnel. India’s premier investigating agency CBI which conducted the exhumation with the help of doctors from AIIMS New Delhi, has again stoked the controversy by its report that the two women had drowned, and were not raped.
