Three people have died in police firing on protestors in Indian administered Kashmir Sunday taking the toll to nine since Friday.

Two people died and many more others injured when police fired on hundreds of protestors in saffron town Pampore on the outskirts of summer capital Srinagar, witnesses said.

The enraged protestors later set fire to a Tehsil office, and a police vehicle besdies attacking a police station in the area, police said.

One woman was killed by police firing in nearby Khrew area.

Fresh spate of killings in Indian administered Kashmir began on Friday when police firing on various protest demonstrations across the region killed four people and injured more than 70.

Kashmir is in the grip of a vicious cycle of killings and protests, in which 26 people have died since June 11.

Many of the killed are children and youth.

Consequential curfews have shutdowns have paralysed normal life in the region for the last six weeks.

Authorities are using strict measures to deal with the situation, which experts say, is intensifying the protests.

Thousands of people have defied curfews in many parts of the region including Srinagar to protests the fresh rounds of killings.
